Ruzanna Mammadova reaches the European championship final

The U20 European Wrestling Championships are continuing in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

On the fourth day of the competition, three Azerbaijani women’s wrestlers entered the competition.

Esra Mammadli (53 kg) defeated Romania’s Electra Ghiaracou by a narrow margin (9-8), but was unable to overcome Germany’s Fiona Gasser in the quarterfinal, losing 0-10.

Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) reached the final after defeating Russia’s Yekaterina Radysheva (4-0), Spain’s Graciela Asama (8-2) and Hungary’s Barbara Bager by fall. Ruzanna will face Turkey’s Ozdenur Ozmez in the decisive bout.

Zahra Karimzade (72 kg), who entered the competition at the quarterfinal stage, defeated Russia’s Amina Musayeva by fall to reach the semifinals. Zahra lost 2-3 to Lithuania’s Greta Tverskyte in the semifinal. Karimzade will face Turkey’s Ilayda Cin in the bronze-medal bout.
