Zahra Karimzade wins bronze medal at ranking tournament

The first ranking tournament of 2026 continues in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.

Our national women’s wrestling team is representing the country at the competition. On the fourth day of the event, three members of the squad stepped onto the mat.

Nargiz Samedova (53 kg) lost to Poland’s Roksana Marta Zasina (0:10) in the qualification round and was then defeated by Japan’s Umi Ima (1:13) in the repechage bout.

Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) was beaten by Brazil’s Giullia Penalber (4:14) in her opening match and finished her campaign early.

Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) lost to Türkiye’s Buse Tosun (0:2) in the quarterfinals, but secured the bronze medal with a 4:1 victory over Japan’s Mahiro Yoshitake in the medal bout.
