Wrestling stars meet schoolchildren in Khankendi

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation continues its campaign to promote the sport.

As part of this process, a visit to Karabakh and East Zangezur was organized under the slogan “Wrestling in Karabakh,” with the joint support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee. Officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Wrestling Federation, along with well-known wrestlers, took part in the trip.

Today, the delegation visited the city of Khankendi. The guests first stopped by Secondary School No. 4 named after Nizami Ganjavi. Renowned wrestlers such as Eldaniz Azizli, Rafiq Huseynov, Maria Stadnik, and Rasul Chunayeiv were warmly welcomed by the schoolchildren with great enthusiasm and interest. Teenagers took photos with the famous wrestlers, received autographs, and familiarized themselves with certain wrestling techniques on a wrestling mat set up in the school stadium.

Games held under the guidance of the national beach wrestling team’s head coach, Oyan Nazariani, added extra color to the event. The students were also presented with gifts by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.

It should be noted that the purpose of the event was to further increase the popularity of wrestling, facilitate interaction between famous wrestlers and schoolchildren, and instill in the younger generation the idea of “a healthy mind in a healthy body,” as well as a spirit of patriotism.
