Wrestlers to represent Azerbaijan at the Islamic Solidarity Games confirmed

Azerbaijan’s wrestling lineup for the Islamic Solidarity Games, to be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been confirmed.

From November 18 to 21, a total of 18 Azerbaijani wrestlers will step onto the mat.

In freestyle wrestling, under the guidance of head coach Khetag Gazyumov, senior coach Jabrayil Hasanov, and coach Sharif Sharifov, the following athletes will compete: Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg), Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg), Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg), and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg).

In Greco-Roman wrestling, led by head coach Aleksandr Tarakanov, senior coach Rovshan Bayramov, and coach Hasan Aliyev, Azerbaijan will be represented by Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), Ulvi Ganizade (77 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg), Murad Ahmadiev (97 kg), and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg).

In women’s wrestling, under acting head coach Toghrul Asgarov, senior coach Agahuseyn Mustafayev, and coach Solmaz Adilova, the team includes Elnura Mammadova (50 kg), Gultekin Shirinova (53 kg), Jale Aliyeva (57 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg), Nigar Mirzazade (68 kg), and Zahra Karimzade (76 kg).

It should be noted that competitions will be held only in Olympic weight categories. International referee Bashir Isazade will officiate at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
