Wrestlers claim 7 more medals at CIS Games

The wrestling competitions at the 3rd CIS Games continue.

Today, champions were determined in five freestyle and four women’s wrestling weight categories.

A total of 51 athletes competed on the second day of the tournament held at the Ganja Olympic Sports Complex.

The results mirrored those of the opening day — seven Azerbaijani wrestlers reached the podium once again, earning one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.

In freestyle wrestling, all of our representatives finished in the top three. Revan Hasan-zade (48 kg) claimed the gold medal, while Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg) and Ali Hajiyev (80 kg) took silver. Ibrahim Suleymanov (55 kg) and Hakim Tagiyev (110 kg) each secured bronze.

In women’s wrestling, Khadija Gurbanzade (49 kg) and Esra Mammadli (57 kg) both earned bronze medals.

In total, Azerbaijani wrestlers have captured 14 medals over the first two days. Champions in Greco-Roman wrestling will be determined on October 7.
