Women wrestlers compete in their first tournament of 2026

The first ranking tournament of 2026 kicked off today in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.

Our national women’s wrestling team is representing the country at the traditional competition titled “Zagreb Open.” Under the leadership of acting head coach Togrul Asgarov and senior coach Agahuseyn Mustafayev, Asmar Jankurtaran and Elnura Mammadova (both 50 kg), Nargiz Samedova (53 kg), Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Birgul Soltanova (68 kg), and Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) will step onto the mat.

Ali Babayev, a Category I referee, will officiate at the tournament.
