Vasif Baghirov Wins Bronze at World Championships

The U20 World Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria, continue.

On the third day of competition, another Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler reached the podium.

In the 57 kg weight class, Vasif Baghirov dominated Japan’s Rin Sakamoto in the repechage round with a 10-2 victory. In the decisive bronze medal bout, he outclassed Moldova’s Ion Bulgaru 8-2 to claim third place and secure a bronze medal.

At 92 kg, Anar Jafarli fell short in the bronze medal contest, losing 0-10 to the United States’ Connor Mirasola, finishing the tournament in fifth place.
