U17 wrestlers face European Championship test

The U17 European Wrestling Championships will be held in Samokov, Bulgaria from May 11 to 17.

The continental championship will begin with the Greco-Roman wrestling team. Under the guidance of senior coach Rafiq Huseynov and coaches Kamran Mammadov, Zohrab Abbasov, and Mushvig Mammadov, Ali Javadli (45 kg), Omar Salmanov (48 kg), Huseyn Mustafazade (51 kg), Gurban Majnunov (55 kg), Elmir Cherkezov (60 kg), Orkhan Habibli (65 kg), Ali Mammadov (71 kg), Zaka Yusubov (80 kg), Zohrab Safarov (92 kg), and Mahammad Mustafayev (110 kg) will begin their campaign.

The baton will then pass to women’s wrestling. Under the leadership of senior coach Mariya Stadnik and coach Solmaz Adilova, Gulkhanim Shirinova (40 kg), Nuray Jafarli (46 kg), Khadija Gurbanzade (49 kg), Fatima Bayramova (53 kg), Maryam Amrali (57 kg), Fidan Babayeva (61 kg), Nuray Hasanli (65 kg), and Simura Abdullayeva (69 kg) will compete.

In the final stage of the tournament, under the guidance of senior coach Asgarxan Novruzov and coaches Vahid Mammadov, Yashar Aliyev, and Allahverdi Valiyev, Tunar Hasanov (45 kg), Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg), Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg), Vahid Mammadov (60 kg), Rashid Nazarov (65 kg), Tunar Guliyev (71 kg), Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg), Elgun Karimli (92 kg), and Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) will try to achieve success.

The matches of the daytime session at “Samokov Arena” will begin at 11:30 AM Baku time, while the evening session bouts will start at 7:00 PM.

It should be noted that Category I referees Habib Nurulu, Zaur Sharifov, and Eldar Bayramov will officiate the European Championships.
