Two of our wrestlers compete at ranking tournament

The first ranking tournament of 2026 has kicked off in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.

Our national women’s wrestling team is representing the country at the competition. Two members of the squad stepped onto the mat today.

Elnura Mammadova (50 kg) defeated Canada’s Katie Dutchak by technical superiority (15:4), but lost in the quarterfinals to India’s Neelam (2:12) and was also beaten in the repechage bout by Poland’s Agata Goluszowska (2:12). Competing in the same weight class, Asmar Jankurtaran was defeated in the round of 16 by Italy’s Emanuela Liuzzi with a score of 3:14.

It should be noted that in the coming days Nargiz Samedova (53 kg), Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Birgul Soltanova (68 kg), and Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) will join the competition.
