Two of our wrestlers can win bronze medals at the WC

The U-20 World Wrestling Championship in Pontevedra, Spain, is nearing its conclusion.

On the 6th day of the championship, freestyle wrestlers in the 61, 74, 86, 92, and 125 kg weight classes joined the competition.

Jamal Abbasov (61 kg) advanced to the quarterfinals with two dominant 10:0 victories over Chinese Dengburile Dengburile and Brazilian Benjamin Souza. However, in the quarterfinals, our wrestler lost 1:7 to last year’s junior world champion, American Marcus Blaze.

Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) advanced to the semifinals after defeating French Seyfulla Itayev 7:6, Chinese Ning Wang 8:2, and Kazakh Yegor Anchugin 7:3. In the semifinals, Aganazar lost 1:3 to last year’s junior world champion, American Ladarion Lockett, and will wrestle for the bronze medal tomorrow. His opponent will be either Baytemir Tuleberdiev (Kyrgyzstan), Tamir Eshinimayev (Russia), or Gaurav Gaurav (India).

Sadiq Mustafazade (86 kg) was eliminated in the qualifying round by Moldovan Alexandru Bors, losing on the criteria of the last point scored (2:2).

Anar Jafarli (92 kg) defeated Israeli Nikita Gubarets by technical superiority (10:0) in his debut, but lost 3:5 to Bulgarian Sali Saliev in the quarterfinals. Since his opponent advanced to the final, Anar will compete in the consolation match tomorrow. His opponent will be the winner of the Yakov Chaplin (Kyrgyzstan) vs. Amit Singh (India) match.

Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won his first match against Georgian Aleksandre Abramishvili with a score of 8:1 and then advanced to the 1/8 final, where he defeated Armenian Khachatur Khachatryan on criteria (3:3). However, in the quarterfinals, he could not overcome Turkish European champion Hakan Buyukcinar, losing 0:9.
