Two more medals at the ranking tournament

The “Muhamet Malo” wrestling tournament continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the fourth day of the ranking tournament, four of our wrestlers competed, and two of them reached the podium.

63 kg
Murad Mammadov (63 kg) lost 3–8 to Iran’s Ali Nurayi in the round of 16.
Ziya Babashov defeated Albania’s Mikel Troplini (8–0), Iran’s Ali Nurayi (4–1), and Kazakhstan’s Yernur Fidakhmetov (7–3) to reach the final.
Sakit Guliyev beat the USA’s Ildar Hafizov (9–0), Kazakhstan’s Bakitjan Kabdil (7–1), and Norway’s Morten Toresen (11–0) to reach the final.
In the decisive match, our compatriots faced each other. Ziya defeated Sakit 1–1 on criteria and became the winner of the ranking tournament.

Mahammad Shukurzade defeated Belarus’s Gleb Makaranka 1–1 on criteria but lost 0–4 to Kazakhstan’s Meirjan Shermakhanbet in the quarterfinals. Since his opponent advanced to the final, Mahammad competed in the repechage, defeating Ecuador’s Andres Arroyo decisively (12–3). He then wrestled Georgia’s Joni Khetsuriani for the bronze medal but lost 1–2.

With these results, our medal count at the ranking tournament has reached six.
