Two More Bronze Medals on Final Day of World Championships

The U17 World Wrestling Championships in Athens, Greece, have officially concluded.
On the final day of competition, Azerbaijani wrestlers competed for medals in four weight categories, with two athletes climbing the podium for bronze.
Hasan Hasanov (60 kg) delivered a strong performance in the repechage rounds, defeating Greece’s Pavlos Dianteadis and Kyrgyzstan’s Ulukman Jekshekulov (7:2). In the bronze medal match, he edged out Canada’s Nathan Nash with a narrow 5:4 victory to secure third place.
Ramal Mirhuseynov (51 kg) was eliminated in the repechage round after a 4:7 loss to India’s Danraj Jamnik.
Rashad Veysali (71 kg) claimed a hard-fought 12:10 win over Georgia’s Koba Goguadze in his first repechage match but fell to Uzbekistan’s Farrukhbek Jumanazarov by fall in the next round.
Said Pashayev (92 kg) opened the day with a 2:0 win over Ukraine’s Samir Ibyshov in the repechage. The reigning European champion then defeated Kazakhstan’s Beibarys Yergali 5:3 in the bronze medal match to finish third in the world.
As a result, the Azerbaijani team wrapped up the championships with 1 gold and 3 bronze medals. Notably, Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg) claimed the world title the previous day, while Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) also earned a bronze.
Team Azerbaijan placed 4th overall in the team standings with 90 points, just one point behind third-placed Kazakhstan. The United States claimed the team title with 154 points, followed by Iran in second place with 150 points.
