Two more bronze medal opportunities at the World Championships

The U20 World Wrestling Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria, are nearing their conclusion.

On the seventh day of competition, Azerbaijan’s last four Greco-Roman wrestlers entered the mat.

Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) defeated India’s Gaurav Gaurav on criteria (1-1) but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Kazakhstan’s Damir Ibrashov, also on criteria (1-1).

Davud Mammadov (77 kg) lost in the qualification round to Armenia’s Samvel Terteryan on criteria (1-1).

Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) beat Moldova’s Cristian Rusu with technical superiority (10-0) but was pinned by Russia’s Abdurakhman Abdulkadirov in the Round of 16.

Mazaim Mardanov (130 kg) defeated Poland’s Mateusz Bienczak by fall and eliminated Armenia’s David Baghramyan (8-0) ahead of time, but lost 3-4 to Turkey’s Cemal Bakir in the quarterfinals.

Orkhan Hajiyev and Mazaim Mardanov will compete in the repechage matches tomorrow for a chance to win bronze.
