Two Azerbaijani wrestlers to compete for bronze at World Championships

The U20 World Wrestling Championships kicked off today in Samokov, Bulgaria.
On the opening day, the finalists were determined in freestyle wrestling at 70 kg, 74 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg.
In the 70 kg category, Nurlan Aghazade defeated Canadian Cade Brown in his debut bout with a 9:2 score. In the round of 16, he overcame Kyrgyz wrestler Zalkarbek Tabaldiyev – 5:2. Aghazade then outclassed China’s Tao Wei by technical superiority (12:2) to advance to the semifinals. However, he fell just short of the final, losing to Moldova’s Alexandru Gaidarescu – 4:7. Aghazade will wrestle for bronze tomorrow.
At 74 kg, Aghanazar Novruzov gave no chance to Bulgaria’s Stiliyan Chorov, winning 10:0. However, in the round of 16, he was defeated 2:7 by Germany’s Manuel Wagener, the U20 European champion.
In the 97 kg division, Ravan Musayev claimed a dominant 10:0 victory over Hungary’s Peter Zsivnovszki, but was stopped in the round of 16 by France’s Ashab Dadayev – 2:12.
At 125 kg, Yusif Dursunov began with a pinfall victory against China’s Ruljie Lin. He then overpowered Georgia’s Aleksandre Abramishvili – 5:0. In the semifinals, Dursunov faced Iran’s Abolfazl Nejad. With no active scoring moves executed, the Iranian advanced to the final on criteria (1:1). Dursunov will compete for bronze tomorrow.
