Training programme held for national team coaches in Shamakhi

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF) organised a team-building training programme for national team coaches in Shamakhi.

Held on September 19–20, the programme included activities covering various aspects of both recreation and professional development for the coaches.

On the first day of the programme, the participants attended a presentation by AGF Secretary General Parvin Piriyev on the Federation’s strategy and organisational structure. This was followed by an analysis of data related to the Azerbaijan Championships.

A training session on physical preparation was conducted by Hakim Ibrahimov, who is pursuing a PhD at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport and a master’s degree at the Football Science Institute. He has also attended a course in general physical preparation, coaching and sports science in Mainz, Germany, and completed the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program at the University of Delaware in the United States.

This was followed by a presentation on proper nutrition for athletes by dietitian Mahammad Abdullayev, who has completed certificate programmes in Nutrition and Dietetics at ANDOP Academy, Functional Medicine Dietetics at Cyprus University, Nutrition Management at Istanbul University, and Global Cert- and IATELS-approved Sports Nutrition at NutriHome Academy.

On the following day, the coaches first visited the grave of Hasrat Mammadayarov, the recently deceased coach of the national women’s wrestling team.

A presentation on the creation of the AGF database, as well as the analysis and video analysis of opponents based on UWW performance indicators, was delivered by Murad Jabbarov, a member of the Strategy and Performance Department.

The coaches were then divided into teams for discussions. Rafik Huseynov, senior coach of the U17 national Greco-Roman wrestling team, spoke about the selection process for national teams, while Mahammad Abdullayev discussed the organisation of proper weight management in wrestling. The participants also exchanged views on the scheduling of national championships for different age groups.

It should be noted that the two-day programme also included team-building activities aimed at strengthening internal communication and facilitating the exchange of ideas among the participants.
