Three of our wrestlers to compete for bronze at the European championships

The European Wrestling Championships have kicked off in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
On the opening day, Greco-Roman wrestlers competing in the 55, 63, 77, 87, and 130 kg weight categories took to the mat.
Rashad Mammadov (55 kg) lost 0:3 in the quarterfinals to Russian European champion and World medalist Emin Sefershayev. As his opponent advanced to the final, our wrestler will compete for a bronze medal tomorrow. His opponent will be Turkey’s Omer Recep.
Ziya Babashov (63 kg) was defeated in his opening bout by two-time European champion from Turkey, Kerem Kamal, with a score of 0:8.
Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg) dominated Belarusian Shuaй Mamedov with a 9:0 technical superiority win. However, he narrowly lost in the quarterfinals to Hungary’s Robert Fritsch (5:6).
Islam Abbasov (87 kg) advanced to the semifinals after defeating Poland’s Arkadiusz Kulinicz (3:1) and Norway’s Exauce Mukubu (4:3). He fell short of the final, losing 0:4 to Bulgaria’s Semyon Novikov, and will now compete for bronze tomorrow. His opponent will be determined between Valtteri Latvala (Finland), Maryan Kola (Albania), or Dogan Kaya (Turkey).
