Three Azerbaijani wrestlers have a chance to win bronze

The U20 European Wrestling Championships are continuing in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
On the second day of the competition, finalists in the 60 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, 82 kg and 97 kg weight categories of Greco-Roman wrestling were determined.
Ayhan Javadov (60 kg) defeated France’s Magomed Varayev (5-2) and Germany’s Ivan Zaibel (8-3) to reach the semifinals. However, Ayhan lost 1-3 to Belarus’s Rasim Ibrahimov, one step away from the final, and will compete for the bronze medal tomorrow.
Roman Karimov (67 kg) lost 6-10 to Hungary’s Petro Jiotovoz in the qualification round. As his opponent advanced to the final, Roman will compete in the repechage tomorrow.
Kamran Rajabli (72 kg) was unable to withstand Sweden’s Alvin Tulinder in his opening bout, losing 0-9.
Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) defeated Finland’s Severi Maeenpaepae (9-0) and Greece’s Vasileios Semertzidis (10-0), both by technical superiority, to advance to the semifinals. However, he lost 1-5 to Russia’s Zaur Beslekoyev in the semifinal and will now fight for a bronze medal.
Mahir Gurbanli (97 kg) lost 2-4 to Hungary’s Vendel Vitya in the round of 16.
