The First Medals of 2025 Come from Freestyle Wrestlers

The “Dan Kolov – Nikola Petrov” tournament has begun in Varna, Bulgaria.
Sadiq Mustafazade (92 kg) competed in a round-robin system and won his first match against Israeli wrestler Uri Kalashnikov with a score of 7:4. In the second round, he dominated Bulgarian Radomir Stoyanov with an 18:6 victory. Mustafazade secured a narrow 8:7 win over American Erik Schultz in a tense third-round match. However, he lost 2:5 to Georgian Sandro Kurashvili in the final round, earning a silver medal in the prestigious tournament.
Ceyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg) defeated Bulgarian Dimitar Biserkov (10:0) in the qualification round and won by superiority (15:5) against Nahshon Garrett in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he lost 2:4 to another U.S. representative, Devan Turner. However, he secured the bronze medal by defeating Bulgarian Denis Naim with a technical superiority score of 10:0.
Notably, the tournament will conclude on Sunday.
