Team Azerbaijan Begins World Championship Preparations in Türkiye

The national Greco-Roman wrestling team of Azerbaijan has launched its next training camp ahead of the upcoming World Championships.
The team arrived in Türkiye yesterday and settled at the Turkish Wrestling Federation’s training base located in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul. The joint training sessions with the host nation will continue for two weeks and will include both physical conditioning and tactical-technical drills.
The camp serves as a preparatory phase for the World Championships to be held in September in Croatia. Under the guidance of head coach Aleksandr Tarakanov, senior coach Rovshan Bayramov, and coaches Hasan Aliyev and Kamran Mammadov, the following wrestlers are participating:
55 kg: Eldeniz Azizli, Elmir Aliyev, Rashad Mammadov
60 kg: Nihat Mammadli, Huseyn Garibov, Ilkin Gurbanov, Nihad Guluzade
63 kg: Murad Mammadov, Ziya Babashov
67 kg: Hasrat Jafarov, Farid Khalilov, Mohammad Shukurzade
72 kg: Ulvu Ganiev
77 kg: Senan Suleymanov
82 kg: Gurban Gurbanov
87 kg: Islam Abbasov, Lachin Valiyev
97 kg: Murad Ahmadiev
130 kg: Sarkhan Mammadov, Beka Kandelaki
The camp aims to fine-tune the athletes’ performance as they prepare to represent Azerbaijan on the global stage.
