Taimuraz Kokoyev: “We will try to show even better results”

The freestyle wrestling team of Azerbaijan, which won four medals at the U-23 World Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, has returned home.

A welcoming ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport for the team, which secured third place in the team rankings with one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.

In a briefing, the team’s coach, Taymuraz Kokoyev, said:

“I congratulate our wrestling fans on the achievements. Securing third place in the team standings is a good result. Every condition was provided for us by the federation. High-level training camps, vitamin supplies, nutrition – everything was in order. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the National Olympic Committee. We prepared for the World Championship with determination and professionalism. We are satisfied with the results, but both the coaches and athletes always aspire to achieve even greater success. We will work on our mistakes and aim for even better results.”

World champion Magomed-Bashir Khaniev (70 kg), silver medalists Ruslan Abdullayev (61 kg) and Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg), as well as bronze medalist Jabrail Gadzhiev (74 kg), later shared their impressions.
