Seven medals at the fourth leg of the World Series

The fourth leg of the Beach Wrestling World Series, held in Baku, concluded today.

Six of our wrestlers stepped onto the podium at the competition held at the Sea Breeze resort. Vusal Aliyev (80kg), Ashraf Ashirov (90kg) and Jamal Feyziyev (+90kg) won gold medals; Nargiz Samadova (60kg) and Sahib Dadashov (80kg) claimed silver medals; while Javid Niftalizade (80kg) and Ramiz Hasanov (90kg) took bronze medals.

Our men’s national team topped the team standings with 84 points. Georgia finished second with 62 points, while Ukraine placed third with 45 points. Our women’s team finished second with 40 points. Ukraine took first place with 100 points, while Spain finished third with 24 points.

It should be noted that 55 wrestlers from 14 countries competed at the event, which was held in Azerbaijan for the first time. The final leg of the World Series will take place on September 26–27 in Katerini, Greece. The world champions will be determined at the event based on the points accumulated across all stages of the series.
