Ruzanna Mammadova Becomes European Champion

The U20 European Championship continues in Caorle, Italy.

On the fifth day of competition, the women’s wrestling events concluded.

Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) faced Germany’s Leoni Steigert in the final. In a hard-fought match, Mammadova secured a narrow 4:3 victory to claim the European title for the second consecutive year at the junior level.

Zahra Karimzada (72 kg) was defeated 2:8 by Croatia’s Veronika Vilk in the repechage match.

With these results, the Azerbaijani women’s team concluded the continental championship with two gold medals. It is worth noting that Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) also became European champion yesterday.
