Ruslan Nurullayev has reached the final of the U23 European Championship.
The U23 European Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Today, competitions began in the Greco-Roman wrestling categories of 60, 67, 72, 82, and 97 kg.
- Huseyn Garibov (60 kg) lost 4:6 to Turkey’s Mert Ilbars in the round of 16.
- Farid Khalilov (67 kg) secured a confident 6:0 victory over Germany’s Yanis Heinzelbecker but was defeated 1:5 in the quarterfinals by Russia’s Daniyal Agayev.
- Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg) dominated Bulgaria’s Dimitar Georgiev with a technical superiority (10:1) in the opening round, then defeated Lithuania’s Rokas Cepauskas 3:1. In the semifinal, Ruslan outwrestled Ukraine’s Oleh Khalilov 4:2. He will face Russia’s Danil Grigoryev in the final tomorrow.
- Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) eliminated Hungary’s Dominik Botos (5:2) in the round of 16 and Sweden’s Alexander Johansson (6:5) in the quarterfinals. However, he fell short in the semifinal against Moldova’s Alexandru Solovei, losing 0:8. Elmin will wrestle for bronze tomorrow against the winner of the Ibrahim Tabayev (Belgium) vs. Jonni Sarkkinen (Finland) match.
- Aqil Musayev (97 kg) was defeated by fall in the round of 16 by Armenia’s Harutyun Kirakosyan.
