Rafik Huseynov: “Our team is at an optimal level of preparation”

Our young wrestlers continue their preparations for the U17 World Wrestling Championships, which will be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2.

The Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team is continuing its training camp in Baku. Senior coach Rafik Huseynov assessed the team’s preparation process:

“Following the national championships, we held training camps in several locations. We started our preparations in Shamakhi. We then held a training camp in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. During that camp, we selected the wrestlers who would compete at the ‘Victory Cup’ in Türkiye. The athletes who performed well at that tournament were included in the squad planned for the European Championships.

After the continental championships, we are now holding our third training camp. The final stage of preparation will be aimed at bringing the team into full form. Our team is at an optimal level of preparation. Minor injuries are not causing any serious problems.

By the time of the World Championships, we will have completed a total of 10 training camps. These preparation processes have been organized at the highest level by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, and we have received maximum support.”
