Our national team become world champions for the first time

The team standings have been determined at the U17 beach wrestling world championships held at the Sea Breeze resort.

Our women’s team finished the tournament with one silver and one bronze medal. With 54 points, our national team became world champions in the team standings. This is the first such achievement for Azerbaijan in the history of women’s beach wrestling. The United States finished second with 53 points, while Japan took third place with 52 points.

In the men’s competition, our national team won 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, collecting 85 points. Iran also scored 85 points and took first place based on additional criteria. Azerbaijan finished second, while Senegal placed third with 32 points.

It should be noted that, under the guidance of head coach Oyan Nazariani and coach Ibrahim Yusubov, Elcan Hasanov (60 kg) and Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) won gold medals; Alirza Heybatli (60 kg), Elgun Karimli (90 kg) and Rana Nuriyeva (65 kg) claimed silver medals; while Tunar Guliyev (70 kg), Ruslan Valiyev (80 kg) and Simura Abdullayeva (75 kg) won bronze medals.
