Open-air wrestling festival held in Lankaran

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) organized a wrestling festival at Heydar Aliyev Memorial Park in the city of Lankaran.
The event, aimed at promoting wrestling, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, and increasing children’s and young people’s interest in sports, was attended by AWF Secretary General Parvin Piriyev, Deputy Secretary General Aydan Mammadhasanova, Head of the Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department Teymur Babazade, AWF Vice President Namig Abdullayev, two-time Olympic medalist, world and European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and national team coach Rovshan Bayramov, Olympic medalist, world and European champion Rasul Chunayev, world and European medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling and senior coach of the U15 national team Taleh Mammadov, European champion in freestyle wrestling and U15 national team coach Aliabbas Rzazade, as well as other officials.
As part of the festival, masterclasses were organized for young and teenage wrestlers from the southern region on a wrestling mat installed outdoors. Renowned athletes and coaches shared their experience with participants and demonstrated various wrestling techniques.
An engaging and entertaining program was also prepared for attendees. Various sports and recreational contests were held during the festival, while a face art zone was available for visitors. Local residents and young athletes had the opportunity to meet famous wrestlers, receive autographs and take commemorative photos with them.
The festival, which attracted considerable interest, was regarded as another important step toward introducing wrestling to a wider audience, promoting a healthy lifestyle and increasing sports participation in the regions.
It should be noted that similar events are planned to be organized in other regions of the country in the future.
