One Silver, Two Bronze Medals on Final Day of European Championship

The U20 European Championship in Caorle, Italy has concluded.

On the final day of competition, medalists in the 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, and 125 kg freestyle categories were determined.

Omar Gulmammadov (74 kg) secured a bronze medal with a 7:7 win over Ukraine’s Bohdan Oliinyk, prevailing on criteria with the last point scored.

Anar Jafarli (92 kg) defeated Georgia’s Sandro Kurashvili 7:4 to climb onto the third step of the podium.

Bashir Verdiyev (61 kg) missed out on a medal, losing to Georgia’s Saba Gambashidze by criteria (9:9) in the bronze medal bout. Mahammad Abbaszade (86 kg) also fell short, losing 0:3 to Armenia’s Razmik Yepremyan and finishing fifth.

In the final match of the championship, Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) was defeated 0:11 by Russia’s Inal Gagloev, claiming the silver medal—just as he did two years ago.
