Ruzanna Mammadova wins silver at World Championships

The U20 World Wrestling Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria, are underway.

On the fifth day of competition, Azerbaijan secured another medal.

Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) faced China’s Yangzhen Yangzhen in the final. The Azerbaijani wrestler dominated the first half with an aggressive style, taking a 6-0 lead. However, her opponent mounted a comeback after the break. The bout ended 6-6, and Mammadova lost on criteria, settling for the silver medal.

This result brings Azerbaijan’s medal tally at the championships to five. Earlier, Vasif Baghirov (57 kg), Nurlan Aghazade (70 kg), Yusif Dursunov (125 kg), and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) each claimed bronze.
