The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) continues its efforts to strengthen the material and technical infrastructure of wrestling in the country.

As part of this initiative, a new milestone has been achieved — the AWF’s new training facility has officially been inaugurated. Located at 92 Natig Aliyev Street, Khatai District, the center is now fully operational and has been allocated for the use of cadet freestyle wrestlers.

The facility, covering 315 square meters, is fully equipped with training gear and features a dedicated fitness room, coaching office, boiler room, and sanitary units for both coaches and athletes.

The official opening ceremony of the training center was held today, attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, AWF officials, and national team coaches. Among the speakers were AWF Vice President Namig Aliyev, Olympic champion and AWF Executive Committee member Namig Abdullayev, AWF Secretary General Nasimi Musayev, Head of Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Yashar Rzayev, and U17 national freestyle team head coach Asgerkhan Novruzov. They highlighted the importance of the new base and expressed confidence that it will significantly contribute to the future development of freestyle wrestling in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that this new training center will host U15 and U17 national teams, who have garnered increasing international attention for their recent successes on the global stage.
