New Wrestling Center Inaugurated in Fuzuli
The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) continues its efforts to promote wrestling in the regions and to foster a healthy upbringing among the younger generation.
As part of this initiative, the sports hall of School No. 4, located in the 4th Gayıdış settlement of Fuzuli district, has been equipped by the Federation with wrestling mats, various training and technical equipment, and other necessary sports gear. This step aims not only to support the development of sports in the region but also to spark greater interest in wrestling among local youth.
Today, the AWF organized a familiarization visit to the wrestling facility. Two-time Olympic medalist, three-time World Champion, four-time European Champion, and the AWF’s freestyle wrestling coordinator Haji Aliyev visited the center, met with young wrestlers, and shared his advice with them. During the opening ceremony, Ramiz Guliyev, the Chief Advisor of the Youth and Sports Sector of the Karabakh Regional Department of Youth and Sports for Fuzuli district, expressed his gratitude to the Federation for its support.
Speakers at the event expressed their hope that this center would eventually produce winners and medalists of prestigious competitions. It was also emphasized that Haji Aliyev’s visit, as one of the iconic figures of Azerbaijani wrestling, serves as a great source of motivation for the young wrestlers in the area. It should be noted that 70 teenagers are currently engaged in freestyle wrestling at the center under the guidance of experienced coach Vusal Eminov.
The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation remains committed to continuing such initiatives in the regions and to further popularizing wrestling across all parts of the country.
