New committee established at the Wrestling Federation

A Wrestling Heritage and Community Committee has been established within the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF).

At the inaugural meeting chaired by AWF Secretary General Parvin Piriyev, organizational matters related to the Committee were reviewed. According to the decision adopted at the meeting, Honored Physical Education and Sports Figure Elchin Jafarov was elected Chairman of the Committee, while AWF Deputy Secretary General Aydan Mammadhasanova was elected Secretary of the Committee.

The Committee also includes Head of the AWF Regional Affairs Department Elfaq Safarov, Sports Department Specialist Yagub Mammadov, Honored Physical Education and Sports Figure Vahid Mammadov, and national freestyle wrestling team coach Arif Abdullayev as members.

During the meeting, the Committee’s action plan was discussed and approved. The plan includes the development of criteria for identifying wrestling veterans, increasing attention and support for them, as well as initiatives aimed at preserving wrestling heritage and passing it on to future generations.

In addition, various proposals regarding the Committee’s future activities were put forward, and an exchange of views was held on their implementation. The involvement of different representatives of the wrestling community in the process and the further strengthening of ties between the federation and veterans were highlighted as key priorities.
