National Team Announced for Ranking Series Tournament

From July 17 to 20, a ranking series tournament will be held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

In this final ranking event of the year, Azerbaijan will be represented by both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers. The tournament will take place at the BOK Sports Hall. On the first two days, athletes from the freestyle national team will step onto the mat. Under the guidance of head coach Khetag Gazyumov and senior coach Jabrayil Hasanov, the following wrestlers will compete: Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzada (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Turan Bayramov, Magomed-Bashir Khaniev (74 kg), Arseniy Dzhioev (86 kg), Osman Nurmagomedov, Abubakr Abakarov (both 92 kg), and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg).

Greco-Roman wrestlers will take to the mat over the following two days. The team will be led by head coach Aleksandr Tarakanov, senior coach Rovshan Bayramov, and coaches Hasan Aliyev and Kamran Mammadov. Representing Azerbaijan in Greco-Roman wrestling will be: Nihat Mammadli and Ilkin Gurbanov (both 60 kg), Ziya Babashov (63 kg), Farid Khalilov (67 kg), Hasrat Jafarov and Ruslan Nurullayev (both 72 kg), Sanan Suleymanov and Ulvu Ganiezade (both 77 kg), Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg), Murad Ahmadiev and Arif Niftullayev (both 97 kg), as well as Beka Kandelaki and Sarkhan Mammadov (both 130 kg).

International category referee Kamran Aliyev will officiate at the tournament.
