Mohammad Bana: “The programs we have prepared will further improve the quality of wrestling”

The newly appointed head coach of Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman national wrestling team, Mohammad Bana, has shared his thoughts regarding his appointment.

The world-renowned specialist spoke about the goals set for the team:

“I am very happy to have been selected as the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team. The Azerbaijan team is a very strong team and has won medals on the world stage for many years. This is a very challenging responsibility for me, but together with the selected coaching staff, we are working with great determination. Our staff consists of three Iranian and three Azerbaijani coaches. In the future, we plan to include additional specialists in our team.

I hope that we will be able to preserve the high level of Azerbaijani wrestling and further develop it. There is a medal that has been awaited for 23 years. Now, we hope to achieve even greater success by winning an Olympic gold medal. God willing, through the programs we have prepared, the quality of wrestling will improve day by day.

In our discussions with the respected leadership of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, our main objective has been clearly defined. We have focused all our attention on winning Olympic gold. There are two major challenges ahead of us on this path, and we aim to overcome them successfully. Our primary goal is to follow a correct and effective course during the remaining two years leading up to the Olympic Games.

Our journey will be accompanied by various achievements, but ultimately, we want to reach Olympic gold. I am very happy to be here and to carry this great responsibility.”
