Line-ups of Azerbaijan’s national teams for the U17 World championships announced

From July 27 to August 2, Baku will bring together the world’s strongest young wrestlers.

A meeting with Azerbaijan’s national teams that will compete at the U17 World Wrestling Championships was held today at the National Gymnastics Arena. During the media-open event, Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Vice President Namig Abdullayev and Secretary General Parvin Piriyev addressed the participants, wishing them success and calling on them to fight with determination until the final second, listen carefully to their coaches’ instructions and carry them out to the best of their ability.

The senior coaches of the national teams – Rafik Huseynov, Haji Aliyev and Maria Stadnik – then spoke about the preparation process for the prestigious competition and announced the squads they will lead at the World Championships.

Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling team will begin its campaign in the opening days of the competition. Under the guidance of senior coach Rafik Huseynov and coaches Kamran Mammadov, Zohrab Abbasov and Mushvig Mammadov, Ali Javadli (45 kg), Omar Salmanov (48 kg), Abdurrahman Huseynli (51 kg), Gurban Majnunov (55 kg), Elmir Charkazov (60 kg), Orkhan Habibli (65 kg), Nadir Hasanov (71 kg), Isfahan Hasanov (80 kg), Zohrab Safarov (92 kg) and Emin Bakhshaliyev (110 kg) will compete.

Women’s wrestling will follow in the subsequent days of the competition. Under the guidance of senior coach Maria Stadnik and coaches Rovshan Umudov and Solmaz Adilova, Gulxanim Shirinova (40 kg), Vafa Orucova (43 kg), Nuray Jafarli (46 kg), Nazrin Ahmadli (49 kg), Fatima Bayramova (53 kg), Qaratel Guliyeva (57 kg), Fidan Babayeva (61 kg), Rana Nuriyeva (65 kg) and Simura Abdullayeva (69 kg) will test their strength on home soil.

In the final days of the competition, Azerbaijan’s freestyle wrestling team will take to the mat. Under the guidance of senior coach Haji Aliyev and coaches Girkhlar Badalov, Yashar Aliyev and Allahverdi Valiyev, Tunar Hasanov (45 kg), Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg), Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg), Elcan Hasanov (60 kg), Rashid Nazarov (65 kg), Tunar Guliyev (71 kg), Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg), Elgun Karimli (92 kg) and Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) will represent Azerbaijan at the U17 World Championships.

The day session will begin at 10:30 AM each day, while the evening session will start at 5:00 PM. The official opening ceremony of the World Championships will take place on July 27 at 5:15 PM.
