Jala Aliyeva becomes European bronze medalist again

The European Wrestling Championships continue in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the fifth day of the competition, the women’s wrestling events came to an end.

Jala Aliyeva faced Belarusian Arina Demchanka in the bronze medal match. Our compatriot won by fall against her opponent and climbed to the third step of the podium. This became Jala’s third medal (1 silver, 2 bronze) in this tournament among seniors.

Our other two wrestlers had to settle for fifth place. Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) lost the decisive bout to Germany’s Naemi Leistner by a score of 2:5, while Birgul Soltanova (65 kg) was defeated by Türkiye’s Beyza Akkus by a score of 2:4.

Thus, our national team, which participated in the continental championship with five athletes, finished the tournament with two bronze medals. It should be recalled that yesterday Gunay Qurbanova (59 kg) also became a European bronze medalist.
