Jabrail Hajiyev finished third at the ranking tournament

The “Muhamet Malo” tournament continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the second day of the ranking tournament, three members of the national freestyle wrestling team competed and one of them stepped onto the podium.

Jabrail Hajiyev (79 kg) lost to Iran’s Mohammad Asghar Nokhodilarimi 2–7 in the quarterfinals. However, he defeated Georgia’s Tariel Gaphrindashvili by fall in the repechage and then beat India’s Sagar Jaglan 10–4 in the bronze medal bout to claim third place on the podium.

Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg) eliminated Turkey’s Rifat Eren Gidak (6–4) and the USA’s Jonathan Leonard Aiello (13–2), but lost to Russia’s Mukhamed-Takhir Khaniev (0–10) in the semifinals. Magomedov, who was injured in that match, did not compete in the bronze medal bout.

Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) defeated Turkmenistan’s Ziyamuhammet Saparov by technical superiority (12–2), but lost 4–15 to the USA’s Wyatt Avery Hendrickson in the quarterfinals.
