Islam Bazarganov: “This was a very principled match for me”

European freestyle wrestling champion Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg) shared his impressions after his victory:

“I still can’t believe that I became champion. I cannot express my feelings in words. This was a very principled match for me. I had lost to Musa Mekhtikhanov at the World Championships. His wrestling style was not suitable for me. It was difficult to get mentally ready. Thank God, I was able to win.

I would like to thank the coaching staff and the leadership of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation. All necessary conditions were created for us to prepare at a high level for this competition. We held tough training camps in Kislovodsk and Baku. We also saw the benefit of all this during the tournament.”
