Huseyn Ismayilov Crowned World Champion

The U17 World Wrestling Championships continue in Athens, Greece.

Today, two more Azerbaijani wrestlers earned podium finishes at the tournament.

Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg) faced American Arseni Kikinyov in the final. In a tense and tactical bout, Ismayilov emerged victorious on criteria (1:1), claiming the gold medal and the title of world champion.

Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) dominated Armenia’s Laert Movsesyan in the repechage round – 13:4 – to reach the bronze medal match. In the decisive bout, the Azerbaijani wrestler defeated Bulgaria’s Stefan Stefanov on criteria (1:1), securing a well-deserved bronze.

Meanwhile, Ravan Hasanli (48 kg) fell just short of the podium, losing 9:11 to Russia’s Islam Rabadanov in the bronze medal match.
