Gunay Gurbanova will compete for bronze

The European Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

On the third day of competition, the women’s wrestling events started, and two members of the national team stepped onto the mat.

Elnura Mammadova (50 kg) lost by fall to Poland’s Agata Goluszowska in the opening round.

Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), who joined the continental championship from the quarterfinals on her debut, claimed a confident victory over Germany’s Elena Brugger – 7:0. Our compatriot faced Ukraine’s World silver medalist Mariia Vynnyk in the semifinal. Leading 2:0 until the final minute of the bout, our wrestler was unable to counter her opponent’s techniques in the last seconds – 2:6. Gunay will face Belarus’ Marta Hetmanava for the bronze medal tomorrow.
