Freestyle wrestling competition begins at the world championships

The U17 World Wrestling Championships continue in Baku.

On the fifth day of the competition, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, freestyle wrestling bouts in the 48, 55, 65, 80 and 110 kg weight categories got underway.

Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg) lost by a narrow 5-6 margin to India’s Aaryan Aaryan in the Round of 16. Our wrestler will compete in the repechage tomorrow.

In the qualification rounds, Abbas Shafiev (55 kg) lost 1-9 to Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Murat, Rashid Nazarov (65 kg) was defeated 1-9 by Armenia’s Erik Papikyan, while Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) lost 2-3 to Uzbekistan’s Behruz Ashirov.

Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Ali Bekzodovich Zakirjanov by technical superiority (10-0) in the Round of 16, but then lost 6-10 to Türkiye’s Volkan Bilgin in the next bout.
