Freestyle Wrestlers Win Five Medals at the “Grand Prix”

The “Grand Prix” tournament in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling was held in Namangan, Uzbekistan.

During the two-day competition, several members of our national freestyle wrestling team, led by head coach Jabrayil Hasanov and coach Sharif Sharifov, represented Azerbaijan. Our wrestlers claimed a total of five medals: 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze.

Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) and Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg), competing in his first tournament of the year, defeated all their opponents to secure the top spots on the podium. Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg), who was unable to wrestle in the final due to injury, won silver medals, while Gadzhimurad Omarov (74 kg) earned a bronze.
