Freestyle wrestlers started the European Championship with 2 silver and 2 bronze medals
The U23 European Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Today, the first medalists of the continental championship were determined. Our freestyle wrestlers started the European Championship with 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Rahman Imanov (57 kg) defeated Stefan Shterzhova from North Macedonia with complete superiority (11:0) in the consolation match. Our compatriot also defeated Ukrainian Vladislav Abramov (8:6) in the evening session and won the bronze medal.
Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg) emerged victorious from the consolation match, which was held in a tense fight with Ukrainian Mikita Goncharov – 5:4. The graduate of the Ganja wrestling school won over Moldovan Fyodor Keavdari with a score of 9:6 in the decisive match and rose to the 3rd place on the podium.
Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) faced Russian Magomed Eltemirov in the final. Kenan, who defeated all his rivals with complete superiority until the final, could not demonstrate any wrestling in the last match – 0:11. Thus, Heybatov finished the similar competition with a silver medal for the second time in a row.
Farid Jabbarov (79 kg) also faced the Russian representative in the final. Farid, who lost to Arsen Balayan with a score of 1:5, was content with a silver medal.
