The World Wrestling Championships continue in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
On the second day of the competition, the first medalists in freestyle wrestling were determined.
At 61 kg, Nureddin Novruzov defeated Ecuador’s Joshua Kramer (10:0) and Ukraine’s Kamil Karimov (12:2) with technical superiority in the repechage. In the bronze medal match, he left no chance for North Korea’s Kum Kim, pinning his opponent to secure third place in the world.
At 86 kg, Arseniy Dzhioev beat Ukraine’s Mukhammad Aliyev 7:2 in the repechage and then overcame France’s Rakhim Magamadov 7:0 in the bronze medal bout to claim his place on the podium.
In the final match of the day, Giorgi Meshvilidze (125 kg) faced Iran’s decorated wrestler Amir Zare. Our representative lost 0:5 and concluded the tournament with a silver medal.
It should be noted that all three of our wrestlers won medals at the senior World Championships for the first time in their careers.
