Farid Sadikhli reaches the final of the U23 European championship

The U23 European Wrestling Championship continues in the city of Zrenjanin, Serbia.

On the fifth day of the competition, our Greco-Roman wrestlers competing in the 55, 63, 77, 87, and 130 kg weight categories began their bouts.

Farid Sadikhli (55 kg) advanced to the semifinal by defeating Czechia’s Filip Bartosik with a dominant score (9:0) and Romania’s Denis Florin Mihaia (5:2). Our representative then overcame Georgia’s Koba Karumidze in the decisive match based on the last point principle – 3:3. Farid will face Russia’s Alibek Amirov in the final tomorrow.

Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg) eliminated Turkey’s Enes Ulku (6:4), but lost in the quarterfinal to Moldova’s Vitali Yeromenko (1:5). As his opponent advanced to the final, our wrestler will compete in the repechage match against France’s Lukas Grasso.

Ravan Nuriyev (77 kg) lost in the opening round to Belarus’s Kiril Valevski (1:4), Said Akhundzade (87 kg) was defeated in the round of 16 by Romania’s Patrik Gordan (5:9), and Aykhan Mardanov (130 kg) lost in the qualification round to Greece’s Achilleas Chrisidis (0:3).
