Elnura Mammadova in the final of the U23 European Championship

The U23 European Championship continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

Today, 4 more members of the women’s national wrestling team joined the fight.

Elnura Mammadova (53 kg) defeated Italian Maria Ferone (11:0) and Spanish Carla Soler (12:0) with complete superiority and reached the final. Elnura will face Russian Yekaterina Karpushkina in the final tomorrow.

Gultekin Shirinova (57 kg) lost to Belarusian Arina Martinava in the 1/4 final with a score of 2:10. Since her opponent reached the final, Gultekin will wrestle Turkish Emine Cakmak in a consolation match tomorrow.

Birgul Soltanova (62 kg) lost to French Iris Thibou in the 1/4 final with a score of 1:3.

Ruzanna Mammadova (65 kg) first eliminated Olga Padoshik of Poland (6:3), and then Ekaterina Koshkina of Russia (8:6). Ruzanna lost to Ksenia Tsiareniya of Belarus in the semifinals with a score of 1:3. Mammadova will face the winner of the match between Oleksandra Rybak (Ukraine) and Beyza Akkus (Turkey) for the bronze medal tomorrow.
