Birgul Soltanova claims bronze at ranking tournament

The wrestling ranking tournament is continuing in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Three Azerbaijani wrestlers competed on the third day of the competition.

Birgul Soltanova (65 kg) defeated Romania’s Maria Pantiru 13-5 before losing to American Reece Larramendy 4-6 in the quarterfinals. Birgul then defeated Canada’s Miki Roubottom by fall to claim the bronze medal. With this result, our wrestler won a medal at a ranking tournament for the first time in her career.

Nigar Mirzazade (68 kg) lost 0-10 to Türkiye’s Nesrin Bas, a world medalist and two-time European champion.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Muhammad Shukurzada (67 kg) made an unsuccessful debut, losing 0-9 to Croatia’s Dominik Etlinger in the round of 16.
