Aykhan Javadov: “You need to believe and fight until the end

U20 European Greco-Roman wrestling champion Aykhan Javadov shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming World Championships.

– How is your preparation for the World Championships going? To what extent do you feel ready for the competition?

– Preparation for the World Championships is going very well. Our training camp is almost over. I feel fully ready for the tournament.

– Last year, you won both the U17 European and World Championships. Can you repeat the same result this year in the U20 age category?

– Nothing is impossible. I can repeat the same result. For that, you simply need to believe and fight until the very end.

– Who do you see as your main rivals on the way to the world title?

– Every opponent is a strong and selected athlete. But if I have to highlight, I consider the Asian wrestlers to be more serious rivals.

– Do you plan to test yourself in a higher weight category in the future?

– For now, I intend to continue competing at 60 kg.

– What aspects are you working on to become stronger?

– I am mainly focusing on improving my physical preparation.

– Who is your wrestling idol? Who do you look up to?

– There are many wrestlers worth taking as an example. But my idol is Kenichiro Fumita, Olympic and two-time World champion.
