Beach wrestling national team continues preparations for major competitions in Baku

Azerbaijan’s beach wrestling national team is continuing preparations for the major competitions to be held in Baku.

The final training camp ahead of the U17 World Championships and the fourth stage of the World Series is being held at the European Games Park and the training base of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.

The national team’s coaches and athletes spoke about their preparations for the competitions.

Oyan Nazariani, head coach of the national team:

“We are at the final stage of our preparations. We are currently holding a training camp together with athletes from six countries. Members of the national teams of the USA, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Algeria and Türkiye have joined the final phase of our preparations. I believe the camp has been very beneficial. We held our final practice bouts today. We will be ready for the start of the competition on August 27.”

Ibrahim Yusubov, national team coach:

“We are preparing for the competition at a high level. The team is working hard for both major competitions to be held in Baku. The participation of foreign teams in the camp is improving the quality of our preparations. We will do our best to achieve successful results at both the U17 World Championships and the fourth stage of the World Series.”

Ulviya Musayeva, member of the national team:

“This time, the U17 World Beach Wrestling Championships are being held in Baku. We are currently preparing for the competition together with teams from six countries. My goal is to perform successfully on home soil and defend my title to become a two-time world champion. After that, I will also try to achieve success at the Summer Youth Olympic Games.”

Ashraf Ashirov, member of the national team:

“We are preparing intensively for the fourth stage of the World Series to be held in Baku. The team spirit is very high. We will give our all to make our fans happy with victories.”

It should be noted that the U17 World Championships will take place on August 27. The fourth stage of the World Series will be held over the following two days. Both competitions will be hosted at the “Sea Breeze” resort.
