Ibrahim Hasanov reaches the world championship final

The U17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku are nearing their conclusion.

On the sixth day of the competition, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, freestyle wrestling bouts in the 45, 51, 60, 71 and 92 kg weight categories got underway.

Tunar Hasanov (45 kg) eliminated Bulgaria’s Radoslav Velikov 4-1 but lost by a narrow 4-5 margin to Georgia’s Luka Dotiashvili in the quarterfinals.

Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg) defeated India’s Amirali Faz 9-6 in his first repechage bout but then lost 1-12 to USA’s Cooper Joshua DePuty in the second repechage round.

Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg) defeated Georgia’s Giorgi Narimanidze 4-2 in his opening bout. Our wrestler then dominated India’s Govind Govind 10-3 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Hasanov defeated Russia’s Islam Kurakhmaev 10-6. Ibrahim will face Iran’s Benjamin Mayvan in tomorrow’s final.

Eljan Hasanov (60 kg) lost to Poland’s Witold Pawlik in his opening bout, while Tunar Guliyev (71 kg) was defeated 2-3 by Kazakhstan’s Adilet Risbay. Elgun Karimli (92 kg), meanwhile, lost to India’s Saksham Fnu on criteria following a 5-5 draw.
