Record number of participants set to compete at World championships in Baku

The registration process for the U17 World Wrestling Championships, which will be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2, has been completed.

According to the final list of participants approved by United World Wrestling (UWW), 663 athletes from 60 countries, 272 coaches and 64 international referees will take part in the prestigious event at the National Gymnastics Arena. More than 1,100 guests in total are expected to visit Azerbaijan for the World Championships.

In terms of the number of participating athletes, this World Championships will mark the highest figure in the past 13 years, while the number of represented countries will be the highest in the past eight years.

During the week-long World Championships, the stars of tomorrow will compete for victory in freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling. The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation is carrying out all necessary preparations to ensure that the competition is held to the highest organizational standards.
